Some photo sessions just hit different, and this fall family session with Ty, Julia, and their 3-year-old son Ryo was one of those days that made me grin behind the camera the whole time.
We met up at Fountain Creek Trail on a perfect autumn afternoon. You know, that special kind of Colorado day where the light is golden, the air is crisp, and everything feels cinematic? Yeah, that kind of day. Ty and Julia rolled up looking effortlessly cool, and Ryo instantly stole the show. He smiled through the entire session, followed directions like a pro, and kept his dad on his toes with surprise kisses. Adorable and hilarious. Seriously the best combo.
Ty and Julia have been married since 2020, and you can totally see why they work. Their energy together is playful, goofy, and full of love. Seeing them behind the scenes made me laugh just as much as they did during the shoot! I met them about seven months ago, and photographing them was just hanging out with friends who happen to be ridiculously photogenic. I can see where Ryo gets it!
The trees at Fountain Creek were showing off that day. The leaves framed the family perfectly in our cozy blanket setup, and the light during golden hour was absolute chef’s kiss. It turned out even better than I imagined! I’m also obsessed with these resin pumpkins.
Sessions like this remind me why I love being a Colorado family photographer. It’s not just about the photos, it’s about capturing real personalities, inside jokes, and all the little moments that make your family yours.
