The history of a grump – The story of Arthur and Jackson
Arthur and Jackson’s family have been with me since the beginning of my photography journey. I see them at least once a year, they’re always impeccably dressed and without fail, Jackson gives me grump face for as long as he possibly can. It’s become a favorite part of posting their gallery and seeing their friends and family laugh at the absolute contempt on his face 😂.
I mean, how can you not giggle at that? 3 feet of pure attitude! But this time was different. Immediately, both Arthur AND Jackson are giving me smiles! What? Did I suddenly get more funny? I mean, I have been working on my jokes…
Before I could revel in my newfound hilarity, Jacksons mom told me the real reason behind his sudden sunny demeanor. He had been bribed. With what, you ask? Pokemon cards! I was told that Arthur asked for a car but was woefully denied. You can’t blame a kid for trying!
A little known fact about me: I know the entire Pokemon theme song. I know what you’re thinking. Yes, I was very popular in high school 😜. So now, I know that if any of that Jackson attitude comes back, I can break out into song! I was also in choir. Like I said, I was very cool.
So I have this lovely family sitting on the steps at Jeffrey mansion when I see it. The grump face. As funny as it is, we of course want more photos with smiles! So I proceed to sing. As previously mentioned, I have no shame when it comes to making kids laugh. Just in case you’ve never heard the Pokemon theme song, here it is in all it’s glory.
I think it was more a reminder of the bribe than my actual singing but it did the trick! The rest of the session went off without a hitch and Jackson happily departed dreaming of his new cards.
